Department Profile

Dept. of English was established in 1992 as one of the founding Departments of the institution. The commitment of the faculty members and brilliance of the students are reflected in the excellent academic performance of the students with more than 90% pass percentage. Moreover, the students of the Department bring accolades with their academic as well as non-academic performances outside the college campus. The topmost student of the year is awarded Kadambari award every year. Sometimes the students of the department enable to receive this award. There are three regular faculty members in the Department. All are engaged in different types of academic, extra-curricular and administrative tasks of the college besides offering their best in the classroom. To orient the students towards self-directed learning, the faculty members engage them in experiential learning, collaborative learning, peer learning, and performative learning, etc. The Department organizes Book Club discussions, quiz competitions, educational trips and invited lectures on subjects of interdisciplinary nature to give the students exposure to the recent developments in literature and other disciplines. The department also arranges field trip/survey etc. Students exchange programmes are also arranged along with the students of nearby colleges. Furthermore, the Department has its own library to facilitate the students with additional learning resources. It is equipped with more than 400 books with some expensive reference books. COMPUTERS The department has a desktop computer, a laptop, internet facilities and a classroom of its own equipped with LCD projector.
