I, on behalf of B. C. Medhi College fraternity, extend a warm welcome to our dear students and express my sincere gratitude to the esteemed parents and guardians for trusting the future of your wards with us.

I feel proud to inform all that B. C. Medhi College, a centre of higher education established on 13th August 1982, has been accredited with 'B' grade during its 1st cycle of NAAC Assessment in the year 2023. With an illustrious 34 years history, B. C. Medhi College has succeeded in meeting the academic goals of the students. The college gained a new dimension in 2013 when it was provincialised according to Assam Govt. Venture institution Provincialization Act 2011.

Ramdia is located on the north bank of river the Brahmaputra, 30 kilometre away from the city Guwahati. Ramdia is a quaint rich domain of education and culture in which RaiBahadur Kaliram Medhi contributed a lot in the fundamental of literature. It was a dream of the people of greater Ramdia and its neighbouring villages to impart quality education among the people of this rural area. The college is permanently affiliated to Gauhati University. It has completed its silver jubilee in 2016.

The college has been a long standing dream of the people of greater Ramdia. Therefore, the college has a towering responsibility of cultivating an environment for intellectual, ethical, moral and physical upliftment in the area. Presently, we are imparting major course in Assamese, Economics, English, Education and Political Science and minor course in Assamese, Education, Economics, English, Hindi, Mathematics, History and Political Science. The college is also running a study centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) and has been offering courses leading to B.A. and M.A. degree.

The Postgraduate courses in Assamese, Education, Economics, Political Science and English have enhanced the efficacy of the college. At present the college has an enrolment of more than six hundred students. Apart from academic infrastructure the college has all basic facilities like multi-gym, playground, indoor stadium, canteen etc. are open to students and staff for their physical growth. The interested students can participate in NCC, NSS and Bharat Scout & Guide.

The Government implemented Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under NEP 2020 as per Gauhati University guidelines from the academic session 2023-24. We strictly follow the academic calendar of the affiliating university. The students are discouraged from immoral and disciplinary activities and any kind of offences, indiscipline and unsocial behaviour including their failure in acquiring due knowledge and excellence in classroom instructions. We are planning to introduce some skill-based and career-oriented courses in the near future for the benefit of the students as well as for their professional growth. With our thirty four years of experience, our aim is to ensure a stress free and holistic atmosphere that changes students friendly and help them reach their opportunities and get a holistic education under the guidance of our experienced faculty members.

Finally, I express my gratitude to all those whose contributions have brought the college to this point of excellence. I am sure with the blessings and cooperation of all the stakeholders. With these words, I welcome you to the B. C. Medhi College fraternity, in the hope that your years as a student will enrich you with many cherished memories.
